Why use PARALLAX?

COST EFFECTIVE BEHAVIOURAL PROFILING

PARALLAX offers individuals and organisations the opportunity to purchase "behaviour profiles" at a price that is both cost effective and competitive with any well-known personality profile.

BEHAVIOURAL PROFILING NOT PERSONALITY PROFILING

PARALLAX uses the 3 components of behaviour for all behaviour based output reports.

Behaviour is more than personality. A Behavioural profile indicates more than a Personality profile.

Behaviour is the interaction of 3 components.

  • Mindset: How an individual interacts with the outside world
  • Personality: How a person processes data internally.
  • Attitude: What motivates a person or prompts their actions.

Relying solely on the Personality component will significantly limit the accuracy of the profile. At best the profile only indicates 1 of the 3 components of behaviour.

The Personality component will influence certain behaviour characteristics. However, identifying this component alone will not give a complete picture of the behaviour patterns of an individual. At best, it will offer only a general impression. From this general impression, many so-called specialists draw up speculations to fill in the blanks. On some occasions the speculations seem spot on, other occasions they are reasonable, but on some occasions they are totally inaccurate. PARALLAX does not speculate.

Many organisations do not realise that many of the tools that they use have this very limitation. Organisations that make decisions based on totally inaccurate "speculation" leave themselves exposed to numerous hazards and dangers.

PARALLAX is a behavioural-based profiling system that avoids these potential dangers.

BIOLOGICALLY BASED NOT PSYCHOLOGICALLY BASED

PARALLAX is designed to interpret data in the same way that the brain processes data. As a consequence, the output is more accurate, reliable and indicative of predicted behaviour.

Neurobiological studies over the last 25 years have identified that the brain has a formal design. The first function of the brain is to keep an individual alive. Many refer to this function as the survival instinct. In order to comply with the first function, the brain establishes and reinforces any neurobiological patterns that will keep the person alive. They become almost hard wired in the brain as habit patterns. These habit patterns manifest themselves as behaviour patterns.

The executive function of the brain is located in the frontal lobes of the cerebral hemispheres. The frontal lobes operate and function as the seat of rationality - the place where you make conscious decisions. There are many layers of functionality between the first function and the executive function. Most, if not all of these layers operate non-consciously in accord with previously established neurological patterns. In effect these layers reinforce the previously established habit patterns.

Psychologists since the ancient Greeks have theorised about how the mind (psyche) works. Few, if any psychological theories, more than 30 years old, will correlate with the neurobiological functionality of the brain. At least 95% of type-based and trait-based profiling systems, currently in use within organisations today, have a psychological theory which conflicts with the neurobiological functionality of the brain.

PATTERN BASED PROFILES NOT TYPE OR TRAIT

PARALLAX is a brain based system that identifies behaviour patterns rather than stereotyping individuals or mapping the traits of an individual against supposed “norms”.

Every individual with a healthy brain has the capability to behave in many different ways. They are not restricted to one “type” or set of characteristics. If individuals are restricted to binary processing, they cease to be individuals - merely robots. Yet - no individual with a healthy brain - is a robot.

Take 2 healthy individuals. Each individual will have a unique DNA structure. There will be some similarities between the DNA and some significant differences. In the same way, each individual will have both similar and different behavioural attributes, but the overall pattern of behaviour will be unique.

Type based systems work by categorising, or stereotyping an individual into a predetermined "type". Each type has a series of common characteristics. Trait based systems work by indicating on a scale the intensity of a characteristic relative to the opposite characteristic. A specific trait for an individual is first shown as a location on a scale and then contrasted against a proposed "normal". Both kinds of system operate in accord with a binary structure, "either this or that". Computers operate in accord with a binary structure. The brain does not operate like a computer. It operates in accord with previously established multi-level, ternary principles.

The brain has (extensive) recursive functionality to deal with dynamically changing sense perception. This feature enables the brain to process massive amounts of data - all happening simultaneously based on the input it is receiving. At the same time it is assembling multitudes of aspects that combine to generate behaviour patterns. (For more information see the section: Biologically based not Psychologically based).

The brain generates habits that combine to form simple behaviours that, in turn, trigger further habits resulting in more complex behaviours - and so on. The outcome is a pattern of behaviour. PARALLAX uses a 3 x 3 x 3 cube framework and ternary processes to map patterns of behaviour. It does not use a binary approach.

ACCURATE, RELIABLE AND COMPREHENSIVE PROFILES

PARALLAX provides profiles that are more accurate, reliable and comprehensive because of the interaction of the brain based biology, the pattern based ternary principles and the, behaviour based 3 x 3 x 3 cube structure.

As a consequence of the unique features of the PARALLAX engine, the output reports from the system distinguish between aspects of behaviour that other systems cannot identify. As a result, the PARALLAX reports provide more detailed information from multiple levels enabling superior analysis.

Consider the scientific maxim: better information = better decisions = better results.

IDENTIFICATION OF TOXIC AND NOURISHING BEHAVIOURS

PARALLAX provides profile reports that indicate whether or not the behaviour patterns of individuals manifest as either toxic or nourishing behaviour.

Toxic behaviours ultimately damage relationships and might be the potential cause of stress related illnesses within individuals. Nourishing behaviours ultimately improve relationships and enable those suffering from stress related illnesses to recover earlier.

The effects of Toxic Behaviour in the workplace will have significant impact on the performance of the organisation. Bullying is just one example of Toxic Behaviour in the workplace. (see Toxic Behaviours in the workplace for more information). Legislation indicates that all organisations have a duty of care towards their staff and must ensure that every member of staff is able to perform their role free from bullying. The key to a better working environment isn’t simply to employ staff that are all “the opposite to a bully” but to identify the behaviour patterns that neutralise bullying and encourage synergy.

The unique features of the StrategA Cube Model allow the PARALLAX engine to map the potential manifestation of Toxic and Nourishing Behaviours.
